Konin can power not only Poland, but also the AI era
Konin is increasingly growing up to be a candidate for the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Poland.
During the “Atom in Konin” conference (12 November 2025), representatives of the government, local governments and the world of science stressed that the decision on location must be substantive rather than political – based on network analysis, cooling and hydrological conditions.

The Transport Network Development Plan (PES 2025-2034) clearly shows that the Polish system needs stable power sources in the centre of the country to balance the north (RES, first EJ in Lubiatów) with the growing demand of digital industry and infrastructure.

The PSE forecast also for the first time identified new loads: heat pumps, electromobility, hydrogen production and data centres – reflecting the real challenge of the AI era and data center.

This is not a dispute over technology, but a state's ability to provide predictable power for industry and data centres.

Perspective of the Employers' Union of the Green Business Responsibility Initiative (IZOB):
1️⃣ we support a substantive debate combining energy security with the development of industry and digital infrastructure,
2️⃣ we help companies in green-digit transformation (GOZ/ESG, cyber, AI in processes),
3️⃣ we promote system solutions: the location of stable power where industrial clusters and computing services are created — so that energy and "compute" develop in parallel.

So it's not just nuclear energy. It is the ability of the state to maintain energy sovereignty in a world where computing power becomes a new strategic resource.

Konin – with the ready infrastructure after ZE PAK, the central location and industrial tradition – has today a chance to become a place where two pillars of the future meet: energy and intelligence.
