The Taiwanese technology park TEEMA: the real challenge is competence

40,000 jobs are a headline. The real challenge is competence.
During the Taiwan Expo in Europe 2026 in Warsaw, information about the selection of Miękini near Wrocław was announced as a location for the Taiwan TEEMA Technology Park.

This is one of the most important economic news of recent days.
In public space, the number of jobs in the entire ecosystem has been the strongest.

That's impressive.

But from the perspective of employers' organisations, another question is equally important:
Are the Polish labour market, education system and SME sector ready for the industry that combines AI, electronics, electromobility, data centres, automation, cybersecurity and environmental requirements?

Modern technology park is not just halls, plots and infrastructure.
This is the entire ecosystem of competence:
– engineers and technicians,
– automation and mechatronics,
– specialists of quality and maintenance,
– IT/OT experts and cybersecurity,
– environmental, energy and GOZ service providers,
– companies capable of working according to high standards of documentation, audit and regulatory compliance.

If Polish companies are to make real use of such investments, they cannot only be observers. They must become ready suppliers, technological partners and part of the value chain.

Therefore, today we should not only ask: how many jobs will be created?

We should also ask:
what competences will be needed, who will prepare them and what part of the added value will be in Poland?

For employers' organisations, clusters, technical universities, industry schools and public institutions, this is a very concrete signal.

Technological investments do not start on the day the factory opens.
They begin earlier — with the preparation of people, companies, and standards of cooperation.

In the Association of Employers, the Green Business Responsibility Initiative (IZOB) we look at this process in this way: through competence, resilience of companies, green-digit transformation and readiness of Polish companies to enter demanding supply chains.

Because the future of industry will not depend solely on who brings the capital.

It will depend on who can build the skills that this capital turns into a sustainable economic advantage.
